What is this holiday?

What is this holiday, Thanksgiving?
Listening to Indigenous people tell their history, I wonder why so much US history is presented as a fairytale to white children. What preschool, kindergarten, or primary grade school doesn’t paint over the realities of cultural decimation and exploitation with a white wash of supremacist benevolence that invited some fabled meal of cooperation?
Thanksgiving is the quintessential American holiday. Take everything from people who lived on this land: their culture, their land, their children, their food, their water. Break every promise you ever made to them. Then teach a lie to your children about it all, and eat a big meal.
When will be the teachable moment, when we finally come face to face with how our racism acculturation manifests itself in our practice and habit?
